Hosting classes and events
Hosting a class or event — like a childbirth education class, a weekly support group, or a virtual Q&A — is a great way to reach families beyond individual leads. You can create events from the Events page in your provider portal once your profile is live.
Creating an event
Click Create new event and complete three steps:
- About the event — the event name, a public description (don't include private meeting links here — they go in step 3), the event language, start time, duration, whether it Repeats, and one or more categories so parents can find it.
- Payment and attendance — choose Paid or Free. Paid tickets start at 0.50 in USD, CAD, AUD, or GBP; Bornbir charges a 10% service fee on ticket sales, and the form shows Your profit as you type. Then choose Virtual or In person (in-person events need an exact address).
- Message — a private message emailed to each attendee when they register. For virtual events, pick your meeting platform (Zoom, Instagram live, Google Meet, or Skype) and enter the meeting link here.
Your event publishes when you complete step 3 — until then it isn't visible anywhere, so be sure to finish all three steps.
Repeating events and class series
Weekly support groups and multi-week classes can be created in one go. In step 1, set Repeats to Daily, Weekly, Every 2 weeks, or Monthly, choose the Number of dates (2 to 52), and pick how families register:
- Each date is its own event — families pick a date and sign up for that date. Good for weekly support groups and drop-in classes. Each date gets its own public page listing the other upcoming dates under More dates, and its own sign-ups. The price, venue, and attendee message are shared by every date. When you edit the name, description, language, or categories, the change applies to every date; a new start time or duration changes only the date you're editing. Your Events page shows one card for the group, and the event's page lists All dates with the sign-ups for each.
- One registration covers every session — a class series: families sign up once and attend all sessions, for one ticket at one price. The duration you set is the length of each session, and every session date is listed on the public page and in the sign-up email. Changing the start time or duration moves every session. To change the number of sessions, contact support@bornbir.com.
Sharing your class
The first time a class (or a repeating group) is published, we email you its share link with the subject "Your class is live: how to fill it", plus tips on where to post it. The same share tools sit at the top of each upcoming event's page in your portal, under Share your class:
- A short link to your class page — click Copy link. The page counts every click on it, so you can see which posts work.
- Share on Facebook opens a Facebook post with your link.
- A ready-made Caption for Instagram, texts and emails with your class's name, date, price, and link — click Copy caption.
Families can also find your class on Bornbir: upcoming classes appear on Bornbir's city pages, and parents can browse all classes from the homepage, the Find a Class link in the site footer, and the Classes tab in the menu bar signed-in parents see on their phones.
Editing or canceling
You can edit any of the three sections until the event starts, and families can keep signing up until the event ends. To cancel an event, contact support@bornbir.com.
Ticket sales and payouts
Bornbir keeps a 10% service fee on each ticket. How the rest reaches you depends on whether you've set up payouts on Stripe:
- With payouts set up on Stripe — tickets priced in USD are paid to your Stripe balance and reach your bank on Stripe's schedule. Setting up payouts is part of Premium and Business for US providers; see "Invoicing clients and getting paid". If you're eligible and haven't set up yet, the notice on your Events page and on the payment step has a Set up payouts link.
- Otherwise — Bornbir collects ticket sales and pays you by ACH or PayPal on the first Monday of each month, along with an emailed income statement. We email you first to confirm where to send it, so there's nothing to enter in advance. This also applies to tickets sold before you set up payouts and to tickets priced in CAD, AUD, or GBP.
Sign-ups and reminders
You can see everyone who has signed up — with their names and emails — on the event's Sign ups tab, and we email you each time someone signs up. Attendees automatically receive reminder emails 24 hours, 2 hours, and 5 minutes before your event starts (for a class series, before the first session), so you don't need to send your own. If anyone has signed up, you get a reminder with your attendee count at the same times. You can turn off these event emails to you under Account settings → Manage notifications (the Events row).
