Getting reviews on your profile
Reviews build trust with families and make your profile stand out. Everything about them lives on the Reviews page in your portal sidebar: the reviews on your profile, a Request reviews button, and an Import reviews button. Both require a live profile.
Requesting reviews from clients
- On the Reviews page, click Request reviews.
- Enter your clients' email addresses — click Add another for more fields.
- Click Send invitations.
Each client receives an email invitation with a button that opens your profile with the review form ready to go. Prefer to share it yourself? The same window includes your direct review link to copy and send to clients any way you like.
Families you've exchanged messages with on Bornbir can also review you from their conversation with you: once you've both written in the thread, your profile and reviews in their conversation show "Worked with [your first name]? Tell other parents how it went." with a Write a review button. They're only asked if they haven't reviewed you yet.
After a client submits the form, we email them a verification link ("Verify your review of [your name]") to confirm the review is really theirs — the review publishes as soon as they click it, and the link works for 7 days. A family signed in to Bornbir who reviews you under the email address they've already verified skips this step, and their review publishes right away. If a client says their review isn't showing, ask them to check their inbox (and spam folder) for that email. You'll get an email with the full text whenever a new review goes live on your profile.
Reviews submitted under your own account email are turned back — the form points you to the Reviews page instead.
Importing reviews from Google Maps, DoulaMatch, Care.com, Yelp, or Meela
Click Import reviews, pick the Source, paste the URL, and click Submit request. The URL format matters — for Google Maps, see How to find your Google Maps URL for review import; for DoulaMatch, use your DoulaMatch profile URL; for Care.com, use your public profile URL (care.com/p/...); for Yelp, use your business page URL (yelp.com/biz/...); for Meela, use your listing URL (hellomeela.com/listing/...).
- Only import your own listing. A DoulaMatch, Care.com, or Meela listing that another provider has already imported is turned away when you submit, with the message that it "is already imported to another provider's profile. If this listing is yours, please contact us."
- A DoulaMatch listing has to be under a name that appears on your Bornbir profile. If it isn't, the request is marked Rejected with the note "This listing is under a different name than your Bornbir profile, so we didn't import it." If your DoulaMatch listing uses your business name, make sure that name is your business name on the Business tab of your profile or appears in your Service introduction on the Service tab, then submit the link again.
- Imported reviews keep their original text, reviewer name, and date. DoulaMatch testimonials are copied word for word from your listing.
- Your first Google import brings in up to your 300 most recent Google reviews. Importing the same Google listing again later picks up newer reviews you don't have yet.
- Google, Care.com, Yelp, and Meela imports include reviews with 3 or more stars that have written text.
- DoulaMatch testimonials don't carry star ratings, so they import as 5-star reviews.
- Yelp reviews filtered as "not recommended" by Yelp can't be imported.
- Duplicates are detected and skipped, so re-importing won't create copies. That includes the same review posted on two sites, a slightly reworded copy, or one that shows the reviewer's name differently (for example "Sarah B." on one site and "Sarah Beckwith" on another) — it appears on your profile once.
You'll receive an email when your reviews are live on your profile. The page lists your Previous requests with a status of Pending, Completed, or Rejected. If we couldn't read any reviews at the link, the request shows "We couldn't read any reviews at this link. Check that it opens your listing, then submit it again." If a request has been pending for a while, contact support@bornbir.com and we'll take a look.
Responding to a review
Every review gets one public response from you. On the Reviews page, click Respond under a review, write your response, and click Post response. Responses can be up to 4,000 characters, and a counter under the box shows how many you've used as you type (it turns red if you go over). Your response appears beneath the review on your profile, labeled with your first name, and you can click Edit to change it later. For a critical review: thank them for the feedback, keep it short, stick to facts, don't share private details about the family, and say what you'd do differently. A short, professional reply does more for your profile than no reply at all.
Disputing a review
If you believe a review on your profile is inaccurate or was left in error, contact support@bornbir.com with a link to your profile and the review in question, and our team will review it.
