Completing your provider profile

Your profile is built in four steps: 01 Business, 02 About you, 03 Experience, and 04 Services. Each step counts for 25% of your profile. Your profile won't be live and searchable until you've completed all four steps and verified your email — see "Verifying your email address". You can leave and come back anytime; the Complete profile button on your portal home picks up where you left off, and you can go back to any finished step to change it.

Step 1: Business

Your country, business name, practice location, website, phone number, and social media links.

  • Country — Bornbir is available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
  • Practice location is how we match you with local families and leads. If you offer home visits or virtual services, enter your primary zip or postal code as an anchor point.
  • Phone number is never shown on your profile. It's used only for text message notifications, and you can stop those anytime by replying STOP.

Step 2: About you

Your headshot, name, gender, languages spoken, and a self introduction. Click Upload to pick a photo from your device or take one with your camera, then crop it square. Choose a professional headshot that best represents you — logos are not permitted and will be removed, and the image must be under 10MB. Your headshot becomes your public profile photo.

This step also has two optional fields, Race / Ethnicity and Religion. Pick as many options as apply, or leave them blank. Whatever you choose is shown on your public profile so families looking for a provider who shares their background or faith can find you. Skipping them never counts against your profile.

Step 3: Experience

Your years of experience, degrees, certificates and training, memberships, credentials, and specialties. You only enter your years of experience once — Bornbir automatically updates it as time goes by. If you're just starting out, choose Less than 1 year; families see "< 1 year" rather than "0 years". If a credential or specialty you hold isn't in the list, email support@bornbir.com and we'll add it.

Step 4: Services

Your primary category (see "Provider categories on Bornbir"), any secondary categories, your service range, whether you offer virtual services, insurance, and a service introduction. If you're based in the US, you must either select the insurance companies you accept or turn on I don't accept insurance. You can also add pricing packages and FAQs — parents appreciate transparent pricing upfront.

Once all four steps are done and your email is verified, your profile goes live automatically.

After you're live: profile strength

Your dashboard and Profile page show a Profile strength checklist with the extras that make families reach out — adding certifications, services and pricing, FAQs, importing outside reviews, setting your availability, and getting background checked. None of them are required, but complete profiles get more replies. Pricing you add also shows as a starting rate (for example "$1,500+" or "$35/hr") at the top of your public profile, on your card in search results, and in families' Messages.

If you're a doula, lactation consultant, or midwife in the US, you can also add your NPI on the Service tab of your Profile page to earn an NPI verified badge — see "Adding your NPI number". For everything else you can change later, see "Editing your profile".
