How Bornbir works for providers
Bornbir connects birth and postpartum professionals — doulas, night nannies, midwives, lactation consultants, and many more — with parents looking for care. Here's how it works from your side.
Your free profile
Creating an account and building your profile is free. Once your profile is complete and your email is verified, it goes live automatically — parents can view your public profile page and find you on Bornbir's local provider directory pages and in their search results. Your profile stays live whether or not you ever subscribe. To get set up, see "Creating your provider account" and "Completing your provider profile".
How you get leads
Parents post care requests (we call them leads) describing what they need and where. When a new lead is posted within your service range, Bornbir notifies you by email — and by push notification if you use the Bornbir for Providers iPhone app — shortly after it's posted. Premium and Business providers also receive text message alerts (skipped while the iPhone app is delivering the same alert as a push), and for matching leads a conversation is opened for them automatically; see "Matched conversations: how new leads reach your Inbox".
What Premium and Business add
Responding to leads and connecting with families is where a subscription comes in. Any provider with a live profile can browse the leads board, but Premium is what unlocks replying to leads, messaging with parents, viewing client phone numbers, and scheduling interviews. Bornbir Business adds up to 5 service locations, team logins, a higher daily connection allowance, and a ranking above Premium in search. First-time subscribers get a 7-day free trial — see "Bornbir Premium and Business plans and pricing".
Once a family hires you
Premium and Business also include tools for running your practice:
- Clients — a profile for each family you care for, with visits and private notes. See "Managing your clients".
- Contracts and e-signature — send a contract for the family to sign online. See "Sending contracts for signature".
- Invoices — bill a client and get paid by card, with payouts to your bank (US providers). See "Invoicing clients and getting paid".
- Superbills — US doulas, midwives, and lactation consultants can turn a paid invoice into a superbill for the family's insurer. See "Creating superbills for insurance reimbursement".
