Editing your profile

You can update any part of your Bornbir profile at any time from the provider portal, and your changes appear on your public profile as soon as you save them.

Where to edit

  1. Log in to your provider portal and click Profile in the sidebar.
  2. Open a tab: Business, About you, Experience, Service, or Locations. Each tab lists what is currently on your profile. On a phone, swipe the row of tabs sideways to reach them all.
  3. Click Edit. The section opens in a window over the page.
  4. Make your changes and click Save.

What lives in each tab

  • Business — country, business name, practice location, website, phone number, and social media links.
  • About you — your headshot, name, gender, languages spoken, race / ethnicity and religion (both optional), and self introduction.
  • Experience — years of experience, degrees, certificates and training, memberships, credentials, and specialties. Use Add another for more rows and the × beside a row to remove it — you can clear a whole section, and empty rows are dropped when you save.
  • Service — your primary and secondary categories, service range, virtual services, accepted insurance, service introduction, FAQs, and pricing packages. In the Service window, Add a question adds an FAQ, and each question has its own Edit and Delete buttons. Packages are added and edited one at a time under Packages & pricing on the tab itself — see "Adding packages, pricing, and FAQs". US doulas, lactation consultants, and midwives also see an NPI row here — see "Adding your NPI number".
  • Locations — your primary location plus any extra service areas (a Bornbir Business feature; see "Bornbir Business: extra locations and team logins").

Your availability — open months, pausing, and time off — lives on its own Availability page in the sidebar rather than in these tabs; see "Setting your availability".

Your profile photo

Your headshot is your one profile photo, and it is the image families see on your public profile. To change it, open the About you tab and click your photo or Change photo beside it (or Add if you don't have one yet), then click Upload — pick a photo from your device or take one with your camera, crop it square, and save. Choose a professional photo of yourself — logos are not permitted and will be removed.

Sharing your race, ethnicity, or religion

Race / Ethnicity and Religion are optional fields in the About you window. Choose as many options as apply, or leave them blank — they never count toward your profile strength. What you choose appears in the Certifications, training, and specialties section of your public profile, so families looking for a provider who shares their background or faith can find you. Some choices also list doulas on Bornbir's national pages for families searching for, for example, Black, Hispanic and Latino, or Christian doulas.

Until you fill in either field, your dashboard shows a Share your background with families card and a New label beside Profile in the sidebar. Click Add to profile to open the About you window, or No thanks to hide both for good.

What families see on your profile

The top of your public profile shows your photo, your name, your category and city, your star rating and number of reviews, and your years of experience once you have 5 or more. Below that are any badges you've earned:

  • Background checked — see "Getting background checked".
  • NPI verified — see "Adding your NPI number".
  • Bornbir Business — for Business subscribers.
  • Responds within an hour, Responds within a few hours, or Responds within a day — for Premium and Business providers, based on your median time to answer a family's first message over the last 90 days. It appears once you've answered at least three families in that time and is updated once a day. The Response time tile on your dashboard says Shown on your profile once you've earned it.
  • Your availability, such as "Taking new clients" — see "Setting your availability".

Your starting rate follows, if you've added a package. The background check, NPI, and response-time badges also appear on your card in search results and in the profile window families open from search.

Below the top, a row of section links stays pinned as families scroll: About, Availability, Pricing (or Services if you have no packages), Reviews, Credentials, FAQs, and Service area. Sections you haven't filled in are left out.

  • About — your self introduction (a long one folds behind a "Read [your name]'s full bio" link), plus your website, Instagram, and Facebook.
  • Pricing — your first three packages, with a "Show all [number] packages" button for the rest, your accepted insurance, and your service introduction.
  • Credentials — the Trust & safety details behind your badges, then your certifications, education, memberships, languages, race / ethnicity, religion, credentials, and specialties.
  • FAQs — your own questions first, then answers Bornbir writes from your profile: how much you charge, whether you're taking new clients, which insurance you accept, and where you work. Keeping your packages, availability, insurance, and location up to date keeps these answers right.

Your profile URL

Your public profile lives at bornbir.com/your-name. The URL is set once, when your profile is first created, and does not change if you later update your name — so any links you have already shared keep working.

Checking your changes

Once your profile is live, click View as a parent at the top of the Profile page. It opens the profile window families see when they click your card in search: your badges, your experience, languages, and insurance (or "Not accepted" if you haven't listed any insurers), then your availability, introductions, packages, credentials, FAQs, and upcoming classes. Click Open full profile to see your full public page.
