Updating your payment method and failed payments

Your card details and invoices live in your secure Stripe billing portal, which you can open from Bornbir at any time.

Updating your card

  1. Log in to your provider portal at bornbir.com.
  2. Click Manage subscription — at the bottom of the sidebar, or under Account settings.
  3. In the Stripe billing portal, update your payment method.

You can also view your past invoices there. If you subscribed through Apple in the iPhone app, your card and receipts live in your Apple ID's payment settings instead — Bornbir never sees that card.

If the billing portal asks for a code sent to a phone number you no longer use, see "Updating the phone number on your Link payment account".

If a payment fails

If a renewal charge doesn't go through, here's what happens:

  • You'll get an email titled "Action needed: your Bornbir payment didn't go through", a text message to your business phone, and a push notification if you use the iPhone app. A banner also appears in your portal ("Your last payment didn't go through.") with an Update payment method button.
  • The charge is retried automatically over the next few days — you don't need to do anything for the retries to happen.
  • Your Premium access continues during the retry period, so you can keep responding to leads.
  • To make sure you keep Premium, update your card in the billing portal as soon as you can. Once a retry succeeds, everything continues as normal.

If the retries don't succeed

If the payment still can't be collected after the last retry, your Premium access stops. Your profile stays live on the free plan, but replying to new leads, viewing client phone numbers, and Clients (with contracts, invoices, and superbills) require Premium again. The families on your Clients list are kept.

To get Premium back, open Manage subscription, update your card, and pay the unpaid invoice; your subscription picks up again once it's paid. If you're not sure which invoice to pay, email us before paying so you're not charged twice. The 7-day free trial is for first-time subscribers only. For plan options, see "Bornbir Premium and Business plans and pricing".
