Updating the phone number on your Link payment account
If the Bornbir payment page asks for a code sent to a phone number you no longer use, that number belongs to Link, not to your Bornbir profile. Here's how to change it, and how to pay without it.
What Link is
Link is a saved-payment service run by Stripe, the company that processes payments for Bornbir. If you have ever saved a card with Link, on Bornbir or on any other website, the payment page recognizes your email address and offers to fill in that card for you. To check that it's really you, Link texts a code to the phone number on your Link account.
That phone number is separate from the one on your Bornbir profile. Changing your number in Bornbir doesn't change it in Link, and Bornbir can't see or edit your Link account.
Paying without Link
Link is optional. When the code prompt appears on the payment page, close it and type your card details into the payment form instead. This works for your subscription, a background check, and any other payment on Bornbir.
Changing your Link phone number
- Go to Link's phone number reset page.
- Enter the email address you use with Link. This is usually the same email you use on Bornbir.
- Open the verification email from Link and click the link inside.
- Follow the steps to set your new phone number.
Before you start, know that Link treats a phone number change as an account reset. Everything saved in your Link account is removed, including:
- Saved cards and bank connections
- Billing and shipping addresses
- Purchase history
You can add your card to Link again the next time you pay.
After you reset Link
If your Bornbir subscription is paid with a card you saved in Link, check that a card is still on file so your next renewal goes through. Log in to your provider portal, click Manage subscription, and add your card again if none is listed.
