Signing a contract from your provider

Your provider can send you a contract, service agreement, or consent form to sign online through Bornbir. You don't need a Bornbir account, and there's nothing to print.

What you'll receive

  • An email titled "[Provider] sent you a document to sign: [document name]", with a Review and sign button and any note from your provider.
  • If you've been messaging the provider on Bornbir, they may also post it in your conversation as a card, "[Name] sent you a document to sign", with the same Review and sign button.

Signing requests come by email, not by text message. The link works for 30 days; the email and the card show the date. Anyone with the link can read the document, so please don't forward the email. If you don't recognize the provider, ignore it or write to support@bornbir.com.

Reading and signing

  1. Click Review and sign. The page shows the document, who it's from, when it was sent, when the link expires, and whether the provider has signed yet. If your provider uploaded their own PDF, click Open the PDF to read it in full; signatures go on a page added after it.
  2. Fill in any boxes or checkboxes your provider added. Required ones are marked with an asterisk (*), and optional text boxes say "(optional)". You can't sign until every required one is filled in.
  3. Under Sign as [your name], check Your full name.
  4. Choose Type to use your name in a signature style, or Draw to sign with your finger or mouse (Clear starts over).
  5. Tick "I agree to sign this document electronically, and that my electronic signature is as binding as a handwritten one."
  6. Click Sign and finish. Your initials and the date fill in wherever the document asks for them.

After you sign

  • We email you "You signed [document name]" with a PDF copy attached, and let your provider know.
  • If your provider had already signed, the document is complete. If not, they sign next, and we email you the final copy, titled "[Provider] signed [document name]".
  • The link in those emails (View your copy) opens your signed document any time, with Download signed PDF once you've both signed. Your provider can also email the signed copy to you again.

Bornbir keeps a copy for you and your provider, with a record of when the document was sent, opened, and signed and the IP address each step came from. That record is printed at the end of the signed PDF.

Reminders

If your provider turned on reminders, we email you about 3 days after they sent the document, then weekly, until you sign or decline or the link expires. The subject is "Reminder from [Provider]: [document name] is ready to sign". Your provider can also send a reminder themselves. Signing or declining stops them.

Signing emails aren't affected by the switches on your Notifications page. If you've unsubscribed from all Bornbir emails, though, they can't reach you. Ask your provider to share the signing link with you directly.

If something isn't right

  • If the details are wrong or you'd like something changed, don't sign yet. Message your provider (the signing page has a Message [Name] on Bornbir link when they sent it into your conversation), and they can send a corrected version. You can also click Decline to sign; your provider is told and can send a new version.
  • If you already signed, the document can't be changed. Ask your provider to send a new version with the changes.
  • If the page says "This link has expired", ask your provider to send it again, and you'll get a fresh link by email.
  • If the page says "[Name] withdrew this document", your provider cancelled it and the link no longer works. If you were expecting to sign something, ask them for a new version.
  • If you can't find the email, check your spam or promotions folder and look for the card in your Bornbir conversation. Your provider can also resend the link.

The terms of the document are between you and your provider, so ask them about anything in it. For trouble with the signing page itself, email support@bornbir.com.
