Viewing a family's phone number

Premium and Business subscribers can view a family's phone number and call them directly from a conversation.

How to view a phone number

  1. Open the conversation with the family in your Inbox.
  2. Click the Call button at the top of the conversation, or Click to view (Tap to view in the iPhone app) next to Phone number on the Care request card. In the app the card starts collapsed, so tap Show details first.
  3. The family's phone number appears — on a phone, you can tap it to call.

On a lead you haven't connected with yet, the lead page tells you "[Name]'s phone number unlocks once you connect." Some conversations have no Care request card — for example, when a family messaged you from search before posting a request. Use the Call button there.

When phone numbers are available

A family's phone number is available while your conversation is open. It stays available after their lead closes if you and the family have messaged back and forth, the family marked you as hired, or you've added them to your clients.

The number is hidden — the card shows Hidden and there's no Call button — when:

  • you archived the conversation,
  • you reported the conversation to our team,
  • the lead closed before you and the family had messaged back and forth, or
  • Bornbir removed the lead.

See "When a lead closes" for how and when leads close.

If the number says "Not provided"

Some families choose not to share a phone number with their request. In that case you'll see Not provided — you can still reach them by sending a message in the conversation.

Families you've added as clients

When you add a family from a conversation to your clients, the phone number they gave is copied onto their client profile, where you can edit it. That copy is your own record: it stays on the client profile even if the conversation later closes, and it doesn't change if the family updates the number on their Bornbir account. See "Managing your clients".

On a free account?

Phone numbers are a Premium feature. On a free account, the phone number links open an upgrade prompt (in the iPhone app, the app's plan screen). First-time subscribers get a 7-day free trial (30 days if another provider referred you).
